Plot Synopsis
Landscape designer Sara Bendrick works with homeowners to transform disastrous backyards into the outdoor living spaces they've always dreamed of. In each 30-minute episode, Sara helps one homeowner, such as: Jeff and Stacie, who improve the ocean view in their backyard by adding a huge slate patio, an easy-to-install outdoor kitchen, an elegant pergola, and plenty of greenery; Nick and Janette, whose plans include a gas fire pit, a sleek water feature, and a kitchen and bar area; Rhoyge and Priscilla, who improve their disjointed back yard by moving the dining and grilling area closer to the pool, using a giant slope for a waterfall, and using a deck to feature a fire pit; Keisha, who repairs the pool with an overlay, upgrades a pergola, and adds a raised-bed vegetable garden; Arati and Matia, who build multiple entertainment zones including an outdoor theater, a large seating area surrounding a fire pit, a dining area, and a gaming area; Brian and Kimmie, whose designs include a planter wall for privacy, a grill and a bar area for entertaining, a fire pit, plus a playhouse and chalkboard wall; and many more singles, couples and families who want new looks for their backyards. I HATE MY YARD returned for its second season on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, as DIY Network aired back-to-back new episodes. In the Season 2 premiere, Sara comes up with a plan to unify Wyatt and Shelly's disjointed yard by creating distinctive areas for playing and entertaining, with a larger deck, a fire pit, and a bocce ball court. Then, in the night's second episode, Sara helps Michael and Asia tackle their overgrown, underutilized space by adding a new seat wall, sprucing up their old hot tub with tile and a surrounding deck, and building a customized gardening station.
