Plot Synopsis

In this spinoff of WORST COOKS IN AMERICA, a group of the most hopeless bakers in the United States compete in a high-stakes elimination series as they vie to be one of the last two standing so they can cook for a panel of esteemed culinary critics and win the grand prize of $25,000.

In Season 1, under the tutelage of two Food Network celebrity chefs -- Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale -- the talentless bakers are split into two team. Over six weeks, Duff and Lorraine attempt to transform their team of recruits into pastry experts. Based on their performances and progress in a series of sweet and savory baking challenges, the recruits are narrowed down each week until only two are left for the chance to win the $25,000 grand prize and earn bragging rights for their team leader. On the premiere, Duff and Lorraine assess the contestants' skills by challenging them to create desserts inspired by pictures and recipes from FoodNetwork.com. After witnessing their baking blunders, Duff and Lorraine realize they must start with the baking basics, and begin with a classic sugar cookie. Upcoming episodes feature terrifying treats for Halloween, wedding cake decorating, pie contests, and animal-shaped sweets. The worst baker from each team that crumbles under the pressure is eliminated. The season culminates when the two remaining recruits face off in in the ultimate bakery battle. The one that has transformed the most goes home with the $25,000 grand prize and makes their leader proud.

Season 2 of WORST BAKERS IN AMERICA premiered on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network. Lorraine Pascale returns for a second season, and she's joined by Jason Smith. The duo have their work cut out for them, as they try to transform eight kitchen disasters into baking masters during the five-episode second season. Based on the recruits' performance and progress in a series of fast-paced baking challenges, they will be narrowed down each week until only two are left standing to face off in an intense battle. Only one will be the most improved and will rise to the top and earn the $25,000 grand prize.

On the premiere, Jason and Lorraine task the recruits to recreate their dream dessert to help determine who they want to mentor on their team. Each week, the recruits will first be tested in skill drills and games from guessing surprise baking ingredients based on touch, tasting wild confections in blind taste tests, and decorating cakes against the clock in a speed relay race. The one that rises to the top will earn special advantages in the next round of challenges. Over the five weeks the competitors will be challenged to create multi-colored mirror glazed cakes, whip up pete a choux pastries, and design 3-D animal cakes. The worst baker from each team that crumbles under the pressure will be eliminated.

The season culminates when the two remaining recruits must put their new baking skills to use as they create a three-course dessert menu to impress special guests Dan Langan, Thiago Silva, and Melba Wilson. The one that has transformed the most will go home with the $25,000 grand prize and will make their leader proud!
