Plot Synopsis
WILD BURMA is a three-part documentary that follows a team of scientists and filmmakers who were given unprecedented access to a region of Burma that's remained closed off from the world for 50 years. Their mission: to prove to the Burmese government that endangered animals are living here, and are in desperate need of protection. In each 60-minute episode, the team searches for different animals, including: Asian elephants in the mountains of western Burma; the sun bear, the Asian golden cat and the clouded leopard; and tigers in northern Burma and in Karen State in the far south. Smithsonian aired the U.S. premiere of WILD BURMA on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT.
