Plot Synopsis

Aliens have invaded Earth by using children to achieve world domination, and as the kids unwittingly help these unseen enemies, someone needs to start putting the pieces together to save humanity. In Washington DC several kids have been talking about their imaginary friend, Drill. What the parents don't know is this friend is not as imaginary as they assume. Drill is able to entice the kids to play very dangerous games with very real consequences. FBI agent Claire Bennigan has been called in to investigate the case of a 6-year-old girl who almost killed her mother playing a game with her imaginary friend. Claire's reluctant partner, Jessup Rollins, is a skeptic, but when Claire finally forces him to confront the truth of what's here, he has no choice but to turn into the most die-hard of believers and take on the battle charge. Meanwhile, the defense department just sent Wes Lawrence, Claire's former lover, to the Sahara Desert, where he witnesses what looks like an alien spaceship and something else even more inexplicable. With close ties to the President and the various corridors of power, Wes must navigate the murky, dirty battlefield of politics in order to fight back against the Enemy. Wes' wife, Lena, finds herself struggling to understand her life after his infidelity with Claire. Now vulnerable and unmoored, she discovers a sinister force turning her own daughter, Minx, against her. Determined to free her daughter while still battling the weight of her anger, Lena will have no choice but to work with the "other woman."

On Monday, August 31, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, ABC premiered the season finale of THE WHISPERS. In the season ender, "Game Over," Drill's mysterious end game is put into motion and the team must do their utmost to stop it before it reaches its final -- and possibly deadly -- conclusion
