Plot Synopsis

In this scripted comedy, Vinnie Bassett, a 30-year-old man-child living the life of a carefree bachelor, becomes the legal guardian for his nephew Wendell, a precocious 12-year-old boy with an old soul. Vinnie is a proprietor of a pop culture memorabilia store who only takes breaks to read comic books and play video games. His bachelor life comes to a halt when he assumes guardianship of his incredibly intelligent and mature nephew, Wendell. They soon find that Wendell may be just the parent Vinnie needs, as Vinnie helps his socially awkward nephew and Wendell reciprocates by helping his uncle become more mature. Instead of playing video games, Vinnie now navigates PTA politics, helps Wendell with school projects, and hosts sleepovers -- but not everything goes as planned, because Vinnie is new to this whole parenting thing. Plus, while learning to be a father figure to Wendell, Vinnie deals with Wilma, his older unlucky-in-love sister, and cultivates a love connection with Taryn, his newly divorced neighbor.
