Plot Synopsis

From executive producers David Fincher and David Prior, VOIR is a series of visual essays celebrating cinema and the personal connection we each have to stories on the big screen. From intimate personal histories to insights on character and craft, each episode reminds us why cinema holds a special place in our lives. Six episodes of VOIR dropped on Monday, December 6, 2021 on Netflix, as told by Walter Chaw, Drew McWeeny, Taylor Ramos, Sasha Stone, Glen Keane & Tony Zhou. Episodes include:

"Summer of the Shark": For Sasha Stone, summer 1975 evokes endless days, first kisses, JAWS on repeat -- and the start of a long love affair with the movies.

"The Ethics of Revenge": Forever changed after seeing Park Chan-wook's LADY VENGEANCE, Tony Zhou breaks down the uneasy perils and pleasures of revenge.

"But I Don't Like Him": Love LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, but can't embrace its protagonist? Drew McWeeny examines likability and the monsters we're drawn to in the dark.

"The Duality of Appeal": For animators like Glen Keane, appeal means harmony in design. It's also led to narrow beauty standards for female characters -- and new challenges.

"Film vs Television": How has film's challenging storytelling held up against the small screen's welcoming character arcs? Digital changed it all, says Taylor Ramos.

"Profane and Profound": For young Walter Chaw, 48 HRS. kicked off a crucial conversation about race in America -- not to mention a host of interracial buddy movies.
