Plot Synopsis
VIDA is a half-hour drama series that follows two Mexican-American sisters, Emma and Lyn, from the Eastside of Los Angeles who couldn't be more different or distanced from each other. Circumstances force them to return to their old neighborhood, where they are confronted by the past and shocking truth about the identify of their mother, Vidalia. Tanya Saracho is the showrunner and an executive producer for VIDA.
Starz premiered Season 2 of VIDA on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 9-10pm ET/PT. On Thursday, May 23 all 10 half-hour episodes will be made available on the STARZ app and STARZ On-Demand in the U.S. and Canada and on STARZPLAY in the U.K. and Germany. In the second season of VIDA, Lyn and Emma begin the monumental task of rebuilding their mother's business while navigating financial constraints, competing developers, and the growing anti-gentrification movement. Lyn and Emma must contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother's legacy means to them. VIDA stars Melissa Barrera as Lyn, Mishel Prada as Emma, Ser Anzoategui as Eddy, Chelsea Rendon as Marisol, Carlos Miranda as Johnny. For the new season, series creator and executive producer Tanya Saracho makes her directorial debut, and Season 2 guest stars include: Roberta Colindrez as Nico, a new bartender at the family bar; Rail Castillo; and Adrian Gonzalez.
The third and final season of VIDA premieres on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on Starz. Emma and Lyn are riding on the heels of success. The bar is booming and their love lives are actually flourishing...until the Hernandez sisters discover a long-buried family secret that ruins their hard-won peace. The sisters find themselves face to face with old ghosts and new enemies, all while deciding if they can continue together as a family or if they should move on alone, for good this time. Season 3 wrapped filming in Los Angeles in November 2019, and was written by an all-Latinx writers room and directed by Latina directors Jenee LaMarque and Tanya Saracho.
