Plot Synopsis
VAN HELSING is a one-hour series that is a re-imagination of "Dracula," set in a world dominated and controlled by vampires. Vanessa Helsing, the daughter of vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, is the last hope for survival, as she unknowingly awakens to discover she has a unique blood composition that makes her not only immune to vampires, but with the ability to turn a vampire human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires, while trying to save humanity. On Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 10-10:45pm ET/PT, Syfy premiered a special sneak preview of VAN HELSING -- a special, commercial-free broadcast of the pilot -- immediately following the world premiere of SHARKNADO: THE 4TH AWAKENS. VAN HELSING officially debuted on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, as Syfy premiered back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, "Help Me," three years after 'The Rising' began, Vanessa -- a mysterious dead woman -- is resurrected in a world now ruled by vampires. Holed up in an abandoned hospital with other human survivors, she fends off both vampires and treacherous humans and discovers special powers even she didn't know she had. Then, in the night's second episode (10:55pm), "Seen You," in the days leading up to 'The Rising', Vanessa is attacked and left for dead by an intruder. When Doc discovers anomalies in Vanessa's bloodwork, Axel and the marines come to retrieve the body, only to become marooned in the hospital when 'The Rising' erupts outside the building.
The sophomore season of VAN HELSING premiered on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Syfy. At the end of Season 1 while in Dmitri and Rebecca's clutches, Vanessa learned secrets from her past and found herself at a crossroads -- is she a vampire or a human? Flesh and the Resistance accelerate their timeline to rescue Vanessa, while Mohamad and Sheema finally come to blows over their allegiances. Now, in Season 2, Vanessa and the other survivors discover old alliances have crumbled, and new connections expose long-buried secrets about The Rising, the Van Helsing heritage and the survival of humankind itself. In the season opener, "Begin Again," Vanessa and Mohamad search for Dylan as Dmitri's citadel crumbles around them. Flesh acquires an unexpected ally in one of the Resistance Fighters. Taka clashes with the Vampire Elite.
