Plot Synopsis
Master underwater cinematographor David Hannan travels to Earth's Southern oceans -- from the giant kelp forests of Tasmania to the pristine coral reefs in Western Australia to the icy waters of South Georgia Island -- to explore life above and below the waterline. Just north of Australia around the island country of Papua, New Guinea, David spends time with giant manta rays, silvertip sharks, moray eels, toxic jellyfish and other creatures. Off the east coast of Australia's Heron Island, David explores the Great Barrier Reef, showing the natural wonders as well as how manmade conditions have damaged one reef while creating another. On the edge of Western Australia, David visits Ningaloo Reef and finds schools of venomous striped eel catfish, shoals of sardines, giant manta rays and scores of whale sharks. David continues his journey to South Georgia Island, 1000 miles off the southeast coast of Argentina, and uncovers five species of penguin, elephant seals, and fur seals.
