Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Trace Adkins, ULTIMATE COWBOY SHOWDOWN is a competition series that features the top cowboys from across the nation locking horns in a series of grueling challenges for their chance to win the prize of a lifetime. Contestants are judged on their skills, knowledge, grit, and passion. One by one, the cowboy who can't stack up to the competition is sent packing by Adkins and a panel of expert judges. In the end, only one cowboy rides away with the herd.

In Season 1, 12 cowboys (men and women) from across the country compete for the ultimate cowboy prize -- a herd of cattle they can raise and take to market. The competition airs on INSP over the course of six nights, with a series of grueling physical and mental challenges that test the cowboys individually and as teams. The last cowboy standing will walk away with a prize package that includes the herd, the coveted Ultimate Cowboy Showdown belt-buckle, and a lifetime of bragging rights. The competition debuts Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18, 2019 at 9pm ET, followed by the final showdown on Sunday, October 20 at 9pm ET.

The sophomore season of ULTIMATE COWBOY SHOWDOWN debuted on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on INSP. Season 2 pits 14 cowboys from across the United States against each other in a series of physical and mental challenges. The winner is awarded a herd they can take to market, a Rawhide Portable Corral, an Arrowquip Q-Catch 87 Series Cattle Chute, and the "Ultimate Cowboy Showdown" belt-buckle.

Season 3 of ULTIMATE COWBOY SHOWDOWN debuted on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 8pm ET on INSP. Fourteen cowboys from across the country arrived at Powderhorn Ranch in Douglas, Wyoming, where host Trace Adkins.

The fourth season of ULTIMATE COWBOY SHOWDOWN premiered on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 8pm ET on INSP. Returning host Trace Adkins is joined by judges Booger Brown, Buddy Schnaufer, and Cash Myers in an all-new location featuring all-star cowboys from past seasons. These real-life, best-of-the-best cowboys compete in grueling challenges over rugged Arizona terrain for a chance to win a herd of cattle, and more. The 14 contestants are: Ethan Treadwell; Cautro Houston; Jared Lee; J Storme Birdwell; Cody Brewer; John Paul "JP" Gonzales; Jackson Taylor; Roveskey "Fatty" Hickman; Tyler Kijac; Eddie Pena; Sarah Foti; Buck Faust; Brianna Markum-McClain; and Diamond Jim Smith. New episodes debut Wednesdays at 8pm ET through November 8.
