Plot Synopsis
Two twenty-something waitresses from very different backgrounds work at a diner in Brooklyn, strike up an unlikely friendship, and dream of opening their own cupcake shop. Max is a cool, street-smart waitress who has been poor since birth while Caroline is pretty former yuppie who was born wealthy but has recently been down on her luck. Together, they need to raise money so they can open their own business and make their dreams come true while they toil away at Williamsburg Diner with: Han Lee, the diner's eager-to-please owner; Earl, the 75-year-old kool-kat cashier; and Oleg, the overly flirtatious Russian cook. According to Executive Producer Michael Patrick King, the original character names were Black & Blonde, representing their emotional colors, and not their types. In Season 2, the girls continue to wait tables, bake cupcakes and grow closer, as they try to save enough money to reach their start-up money goal of $250,000. Plus, will Caroline visit a white-collar prison and finally see her father, Martin? 2 BROKE GIRLS returned with its Season 3 premiere on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS, as word about a shocking incident involving a celebrity brought customers to Max and Caroline's new cupcake window, a location they discovered while cleaning a back room at the diner at the end of Season 2. Season 4 premiered on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "And the Reality Problem," a television producer approaches Max and Caroline about shooting an episode of a Kardashians' reality show at their cupcake window. Kim Kardashian West guest stars as herself. Season 5 of 2 BROKE GIRLS premiered on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 9:30pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "And the Wrecking Ball," which was written and directed by Michael Patrick King, Max and Caroline team up with the diner staff in a frantic attempt to keep their businesses open when the city targets Han's diner and their cupcake window for destruction. Also, Sophie and Oleg announce that they are trying to have a baby. Season 6 of 2 BROKE GIRLS premiered on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as CBS debuted back-to-back new episodes with guest stars Andy Dick and 2 Chainz. In the season opener (9pm), "And the Two Openings (Part 1)," as Max and Caroline, now part owners of the diner, put the finishing touches on their newly converted Dessert Bar, Max deals with the aftermath of her recent breakup with Randy, and Sophie and Oleg prepare for the birth of their baby. Then in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), "And the Two Openings (Part 2)," when Sophie goes into labor just before the Dessert Bar's grand opening, she demands that Max and Caroline be present for the birth. Also, the girls run into problems when they don't secure a liquor license for their new venue.
