20/20 returned for its 37th season on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Out of the Woods," David Muir reported on the story of a 12-year-old girl who survived being stabbed 19 times by two school friends inspired by the fictional internet figure Slender Man. What started out as a normal middle school sleepover took a horrifying turn when one 12-year-old girl was stabbed 19 times by her two best friends and left for dead in the Wisconsin woods. The girls' motive and the miraculous recovery of the survivor made headlines around the world since the May attack. Now, for the first time, the parents reveal to David the chilling details of the incredible sequence of events that, against all odds, led to their daughter's survival. Where and how did she get the strength to fight off death? Season 38 of 20/20 premiered on September 11, 2015 on ABC, airing Fridays at 10pm ET/PT with the season opener, "Suzy Favor Hamilton: From Three-Time Olympian to Las Vegas Call Girl." Three-time Olympic athlete Suzy Favor Hamilton seemed to have it all: a highly decorated running career, numerous high-profile corporate sponsorships, a marriage to her college sweetheart, and a healthy young daughter. So what would lead her to a shocking double life as a high-priced Las Vegas prostitute? In her first broadcast interview tied to the release of her memoir "Fast Girl: A Life Spent Running From Madness," Suzy speaks exclusively to Elizabeth Vargas about the self-doubt she harbored for years and what fueled her high-risk behavior and secret life. Vargas also speaks to Hamilton's husband, Mark, who not only knew about her life as an escort but stood by her side.
The 39th season of 20/20 premiered on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT on ABC. The two-hour season opener features Diane Sawyer's interview with Elizabeth Vargas on alcoholism and anxiety. Plus, the disappearance and murder of a soccer mom running an escort business.

20/20 returned for its 41st season 41 on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC, featuring an exclusive interview with Abby Hernandez, a New Hampshire teen abducted in 2013. In October 2013, 14-year-old Abby Hernandez disappeared on her way home from school without a trace. Nine months later, the New Hampshire teen returned home with a harrowing story of kidnapping, captivity and unspeakable abuse. Mostly silent for nearly five years since she disappeared, Abby tells her story for the first time to ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts. She opens up about the difficult details of her abduction including being held for months in captivity by Nathaniel Kibby, who forced her to wear a shock collar and kept her prisoner inside a shipping container; and the psychological strategies she had to deploy in order to stay alive, including bonding with Kibby. Abby discusses her life now and how it has changed since her captivity. The hour includes the first on-camera interview with Lauren Munday, the woman who unknowingly aided Abby's release; exclusive interviews with Miranda Cloutier and Parish Dawe-Chadwick, Abby's best friends; and interviews with Zenya Hernandez, Abby's mother and officials involved with the case including New Hampshire Deputy Attorney General Jane Young, New Hampshire State Police Captain Joseph Ebert, Police Chief Chris Perley and Officer Eric Benjamin. Munday told authorities that Kibby had given her counterfeit money, which police say set off a chain of events that led to Abby's release after Munday told Kibby the police were coming for him. In the months following Abby's return home, parts of her story slowly came out through her lawyers who said she was "violently abducted" and spent months enduring "acts of unspeakable violence." In 2014, Abby came face-to-face with Kibby in court as he was arraigned on charges of kidnapping; and in 2016, Kibby plead guilty to sexual assault, criminal threatening, kidnapping, witness-tampering and assault, and received a prison sentence of 45 to 90 years.

The famous duo, known in households across the world as Siegfried & Roy, open up about the infamous career-ending tiger attack that happened 16 years ago and nearly killed Roy; the recent allegations that the accident resulted from Roy's mistake on stage, which the pair denies, saying that the tiger was trying to help Roy after he suffered a stroke; and their storied career and the legacy of their Las Vegas residency. Correspondent Deborah Robert reports. Plus, the program features new interviews with Curtis Rowe, the stagehand who recounts the harrowing story of how he helped save Roy's life by plugging wounds with his fingers while waiting for paramedics; Kenneth Feld, longtime Siegfried & Roy producer; and Criss Angel, Lance Burton, and Penn & Teller, iconic Las Vegas magicians who reflect on Siegfried & Roy's Vegas residency. 20/20 also takes a look back at the illustrious careers of Siegfried & Roy, featuring footage from the ABC News archives including Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer and Elizabeth Vargas' iconic interviews with the pair over the years.

20/20 returned for its 44th season on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 9-11pm ET/PT on ABC, with David Muir and Amy Robach continuing to anchor. The two-hour season opener, "Chippendales Murder," dives deep into the dark history of greed, paranoia and murder behind the rise of male exotic dance troupe Chippendales, which became an international cultural phenomenon in the 80s and 90s. By creating Chippendales, Steve Banerjee found the success and fortune he always craved -- but his ambition was insatiable. 20/20 documents the harrowing stories of how Banerjee conspired to eliminate those who he believed got in his way, including the shocking murder-for-hire plots against close business associates and a competing male dance troupe, and an alleged blackmail operation against an aggrieved patron of the club who sued the organization for racial discrimination. 20/20 also reports on how, over the course of 15 years, Banerjee's obsession with wealth and control ultimately led to his own demise. The two-hour program features never-before-seen footage as well as interviews with Scott Garriola, a retired FBI special agent, who played a major role in catching and arresting Banerjee; Read Scot, a former Chippendales dancer who opens up about being the target in a thwarted murder-for-hire plot; and Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, historian and host of "Welcome To Your Fantasy," a popular podcast on Chippendales. The special also includes interviews with former Chippendales dancers, producers and employees; Banerjee's business associates; and family and friends of those impacted.

For three decades, Leo Schofield has been serving life in prison since his young wife Michelle Schofield's brutal stabbing. Despite no physical evidence linking him to the murder -- and significant developments in the case since his conviction, including the identification of fingerprints and a so-called confession from another man to the "Bone Valley" podcast hosts -- Leo remains imprisoned with little hope for freedom. The Season 45 premiere poses this question: is Leo in prison for the crime of another man? The two-hour program features 20/20 co-anchor Amy Robach's exclusive TV interview with Leo Schofield from prison, where he discusses trying to clear his name, and interviews with Leo's current wife, Crissie Carter Schofield, who he met while in prison, and daughter Ashely Schofield -- both of whom have made it their mission to fight for his freedom. Additional exclusive interviews include Jerry Hill, former Florida state attorney; retired Capt. Synda Maynard, Crissie's friend who inadvertently helped get a break in the case; Judge Scott Cupp, who brought the case to King's attention for the podcast; Jessie Saum, Michelle Schofield's brother; Michell Truax, Michelle Schofield's best friend; and Jason Flom, creator and host of the "Wrongful Conviction" podcast franchise, CEO of Lava for Good and a founding board member of the Innocence Project.
Season 46 of 20/20 debuted on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 9-11pm ET/PT on ABC. Newly named co-anchor Deborah Roberts joins co-anchor David Muir. The two-hour season premiere, "Happily Never After," features the shocking story of the October 2020 murder of Dallas-based American Airlines director Jamie Faith. Faith was shot seven times by a masked gunman at close range in front of his wife, Jennifer, while taking their dog on a daily morning walk. At first, authorities have little evidence to go on other than a mysterious black pickup truck fleeing the scene. Was it a robbery gone wrong, an act of revenge, or could there be something even more sinister at play? In a case that shocked even the most seasoned detectives, the episode follows the investigation uncovering a double life, a grieving widow with something to hide, and one big lie that no one saw coming. GMA3 co-anchor and ABC News correspondent Eva Pilgrim reports.
20/20 returned for its 47th season on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 9-11pm ET/PT on ABC. The two-hour season opener, "Cold Blooded," focuses on a secret romance in a remote Alaskan town that leads to murder. Dr. Eric Garcia was a beloved surgeon in the small town of Ketchikan, Alaska. Known for his dedication to patients, those who knew Dr. Garcia described him as a pillar of this tight-knit community. So, when Dr. Garcia was found dead in his home following a welfare check by local authorities, friends and family were left shocked, grieving and grappling with a profound sense of loss and unanswered questions as to how Dr. Garcia died. As details of Dr. Garcia's life are revealed, it seemed as if he was living a secret life with then 32-year-old Jordan Joplin, who was later convicted of poisoning him with a lethal dose of morphine and stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of the doctor's belongings, including gold and silver coins and expensive watches, by shipping them to his home in Washington state. What was the motive behind the murder of Dr. Eric Garcia? How did the doctor meet Jordan Joplin, and what happened to this beloved small-town doctor?
