Plot Synopsis
Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez train to face each other on September 19, 2009 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Marquez is moving up to fight Mayweather at a catch weight of 143 pounds, eight more pounds than Marquez has ever fought and the lightest Mayweather has been since 2005. Mayweather last fought in December 2007 -- shortly after competing on "Dancing with the Stars" -- and abruptly retired in June 2008 to focus on show business. He came out of retirement on May 2, 2009 when he announced he would fight Marquez on July 18, but he injured his ribs while training, forcing the bout to be delayed three months. Marquez is a relative unknown to casual boxing fans, but the 35-year-old three-division champ has never been knocked out and is the #1 fighter in Mexico -- the main reason why this bout was scheduled just days after Mexican Independence Day. Fresh off his 9th-round TKO of Juan Diaz on February 28, 2009, Marquez must beat Mayweather to score another date -- and huge payday -- with Manny Pacquiao.
