Plot Synopsis

TRIAL & ERROR is a half-hour, fish-out-of-water comedy series that parodies true-crime documentaries. Bright-eyed New York lawyer Josh Segal heads to a tiny Southern town for his first big case. His mission? To defend an eccentric rollercizing poetry professor, Larry Henderson, accused of the bizarre murder of his beloved wife, while taking on prosecutor Carol Anne in court. Settling into his makeshift office behind a taxidermy shop and meeting his quirky team of local misfits -- including researcher Anne and investigator Dwayne -- Josh suspects that winning his first big case will not be easy, especially when his client is always making himself look guilty. On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 10-11pm ET/PT, NBC premiered TRIAL & ERROR, debuting back-to-back episodes. Season 2 -- now titled TRIAL & ERROR: LADY, KILLER -- premiered on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as NBC debuted back-to-back new episodes. The second season centers on bright-eyed New York lawyer Josh Segal, still relatively a newcomer in a tiny southern town, who is sturdily posed for his next big case there. His mission? To defend the eccentric first lady of East Peck, Lavinia Peck-Foster, known for her flamboyant outfits, large hats and hairless cat, and who suddenly finds herself accused of the bizarre murder of her beloved husband. As Josh continues to settle into his makeshift office behind a taxidermy shop while working with his quirky team of local misfits, he suspects that winning his second big case this time should be easy (especially when his client is the town favorite), but is it?

On Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 9-10pm ET/PT, NBC premiered the season finale of TRIAL & ERROR: LADY, KILLER, debuting back-to-back new episodes:

"A Big Break" (9pm): Josh and his team continue to find themselves at literal dead ends in their casework until they unearth game-changing evidence with the help of Jesse Ray Beaumont. Meanwhile, in court, Carol Anne tries to finish the case before she has the baby.

"Barcelona" (9:30pm): As Jesse Ray Beaumont's trial begins, the team struggles to keep him under control while they discover more of Lavinia's secrets. Now that the baby is born and awaiting the DA election results, Carol Anne discovers who is the baby's father.
