Plot Synopsis

This one-hour drama series explores the unique American culture in New Orleans after the historic devastation of Hurricane Katrina and levee failure in August 2005. TREME begins in Fall 2005 and follows musicians, chefs, Mardi Gras Indians, and regular New Orleanians as they try to rebuild their homes, businesses and culture. The fictional events depicted in the series honor the actual chronology of political, economic and cultural events following the storm. The series also features cameos by notable real-life New Orleanians, as well as the talents of many of its extraordinary musicians and other artists associated with the city's music. Early episodes featured appearances by Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, Kermit Ruffins, Donald Harrison Jr., Galactic, Trombone Shorty Andrews, Deacon John, and the Rebirth and Treme Brass Bands. Among the musicians featured in Season 3 were The Neville Brothers, Fats Domino, Tab Benoit, Dr. Michael White, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Sonny Landreth, The Red Stick Ramblers, Monk Boudreaux, James "Sugarboy" Crawford and Davell Crawford, Kermit Ruffins, John Boutte, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Anders Osborne, Tom McDermott, Marcia Ball, Meschiya Lake, Ivan Neville, Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Glen David Andrews, Donald Harrison, Jr. and The Valparaiso Men's Chorus, among others.

The fourth and final season of TREME, which premiered on Sunday, November 1, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO, began in November 2008 and culminated at Mardi Gras 2009, during a time when Barack Obama had just been elected to the White House, giving the majority-black city reason for optimism even though outsiders were still intent on capitalizing on the city's vulnerability and suffocating its culture.
