Plot Synopsis
TREEHOUSE MASTERS is a reality series that follows Pete Nelson, as he and his crew travel across America to design and build treehouses for clients who want everything from a simple, one-room loft to a multi-bedroom arboreal home complete with functional plumbing and electricity. For the past 25 years -- the first 15 of which he designed and built single-family residential projects in Seattle -- Pete has firmly staked his claim to the title of "The Treehouse Guy," and his company, Nelson Treehouse and Supply, now annually builds 10-15 treehouses across the United States. In this series, Pete and his crew -- including his 21-year-old son, Charlie; foreman Daryl McDonald; lead carpenter Chuck McClellan; and rigger Alex Meyer -- must endure Mother Nature's shifty antics, dangerous construction equipment and dizzying heights in order to build these sanctuaries. Plus, Pete, along with his wife, Judy, and daughter, Emily, own and operate TreeHouse Point, a bed and breakfast in Washington, where people can escape their modern-day realities. Each 60-minute episode of this series features a single build, including: a ranch-style treehouse on a sprawling property outside of Waco, TX; the "Luck o' the Irish Cottage," a Celtic-themed cottage in a backyard olive tree, for an Irish-American family in Orange County, CA; an over-the-top spa treehouse on a ranch retreat for a Texas entrepreneur; a barn-themed treehouse tavern that will be a brewery on a sprawling rural property for an Ohio family; the "Spirit House Retreat," a hideaway for a writer in Rhinebeck, NY; a guesthouse that sleeps eight in a series of white oaks in Medford, OR; a treehouse in a Manhattan backyard; a new honeymoon suite at Treehouse Point, Nelson's B&B just outside Seattle, WA; and many more elevated homes. TREEHOUSE MASTERS returned for its second season on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. In the season opener, Pete built an adventure-themed treehouse for an exploration-loving family in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. This two-story masterpiece was packed with adventurous novelties, including a rock climbing wall, suspension bridges, and hidden passageways. On Friday, January 9, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, TREEHOUSE MASTERS returned for its third season on Animal Planet, immediately following an all-day marathon (10am-10pm ET/PT) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "The Coolest Treehouse Ever Built," Pete and the team tackle a treehouse for two tastemakers in Maine, with a build that features a full wall of windows that opens up to the outdoors and a towering rooftop crow's-nest. TREEHOUSE MASTERS returned with the first of ten new episodes on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, shortly after an all-day marathon (11am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener, "Nelson Family Treehouse," Pete gifts his daughter Emily and her boyfriend Patrick with the ultimate housewarming gift -- a treehouse of their very own by turning a piece of Nelson family history into a Moroccan marvel nested nearly 35-ft off the ground. Later in the season, Pete surprises some very deserving children with a magical escape and gives a group of teens an invaluable skill by teaching them how to build and create their own peaceful nooks in nature. After a four-month break, TREEHOUSE MASTERS returned with new episodes on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Animal Planet, immediately following an all-day marathon (9am-10pm) of encore episodes. In the first episode of the summer, "Bon-Appe-Treehouse," Pete and his brigade de cuisine cook up a dining room treehouse for a French inspired restaurant. Surrounded by fields of red poppies and nestled in a giant live oak, the soaring space will make guests feel like they're eating in the Provence countryside. Animal Planet premiered a new season of TREEHOUSE MASTERS ON Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT. In a special international premiere episode, Pete journeys to the pine-forested splendor of Scandinavia to experience the culture and treehouses of the historic land. He first explores Norway's magical TreeTop Hotel before crossing the border into Sweden, home to the floating Treehotel where he tours some of the property's "treehomes" suspended by cables and accessed only by retractable ladders. What began as a naturalistic adventure into the Scandinavian wilds closes with a truly cosmic experience under the awe-inspiring glow of the Northern Lights. Throughout the season, Pete and his crew construct masterpieces for the masses. From an owl-inspired treehouse for Omni Montessori School in Charlotte, North Carolina, to an elevated "glass box" in the trees featuring walls of reclaimed windows from the Catskills in New York, to an environmental superhero headquarters for The Preservers at the For-Mar Nature Preserve near Flint, Michigan. Then, a TREEHOUSE MASTERS first: SURPRISE TREEHOUSE MAKEOVERS! Pete makes his way to two cities with a tall order to surprise different families with complete, top to bottom renovations to their existing treehouses. Animal Planet premiered a new season of TREEHOUSE MASTERS on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 9-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back new episodes. This season, Pete Nelson and his crew will take on new build locations, including Norway for their first ever international treehouse build, and a very special treehouse for singer-songwriter Grace Vanderwaal. In the season opener (9pm), "A Treehouse Fit for a Viking," Pete takes on his first international treehouse in breathtaking Norway. Working alongside a local builder named Frode, the one-of-a-kind, 24-ft high retreat sleeps eight, and allows for stunning views of the nearby lake. Then, in the night's second new episode (10pm), "Hill Country Hideout," Pete and his gang ride out to the Lone Star State to build a double-decker hideout in Texas Hill Country. NT&S creates rustic perfection in six live oak trees with a saloon-style first floor for sippin' sarsaparilla and a glass floor for views below. Other build locations this season will include Denali State Park, Alaska, where a one-of-a-kind treehouse at Princess Cruises' Mt McKinley Wilderness Lodge is constructed for mountain high relaxation with spectacular views of Denali. Season 10 of TREEHOUSE MASTERS premiered on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 8-10pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the two-hour season opener, "Double Treehouse Extravaganza," Pete builds two treehouses at the same time -- for the first time! In Maine, a couple wants a magical treehouse that evokes a famous children's book, with a grown-up twist. In Massachusetts, NTS raises the curtain on a whimsical Tudor-style theatre treehouse.

A new season of TREEHOUSE MASTERS premiered on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 8-10pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. Tree-whisperer Pete Nelson and his visionary crew are back with more unbelievable treehouse builds across the country and a milestone celebration: 100 builds completed on TREEHOUSE MASTERS! Pete and the team have mastered creating unique sky-high structures that fit their clients' dreams and take treehouses to the next level, including a major build for football star, Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pete and the NTS crew travel to the island of Kauai with a special two-hour season premiere. Pete and the team build a treehouse for a couple who moved to the Garden Island for a more "leid" back life in the Aloha state. Treehouse dreams also come to life on the mainland when Pete and his gifted band of carpenters travel to Sisters, Orgon to build for an exceptional client who, at the age of 81, finally gets one of her greatest wishes fulfilled: a TREEHOUSE! Later, the crew journeys to Alabama's Appalachia on a mission to build a stylish super spy treehouse complete with gadgets, hidden passageways and secret rooms. But that's not all! Pete and team also create a "rumpus room" treehouse built strictly for good times and parties. On this build, Pete's son, Henry, steps up as site lead for this first time and takes the team on a "first-ever" of their own...installing a hot tub in a treehouse. That's 4400 pounds of cedar, water, and splish-splashing good times.
