Plot Synopsis
TRANSCENDENT is a half-hour reality series that reveals what it's like to be transgender in America today by following a group of young, talented trans women as they navigate their professional, personal and romantic lives while performing at AsiaSF Cabaret and Restaurant, one of San Francisco's most popular cabarets. These women not only perform together, but they have also come together to create a surrogate family. The five trans women featured in Season 1 are: Bambiana, a vegan and hopeless romantic, who has known since she was seven years old that she is transgender, and whose mother secretly raised her as a girl in the privacy of their own home; Bionka, a highly sought-after makeup artist, who is involved with the City of Refuge, an organization that helps transgender people of color; LA, the newest member of AsiaSF, who is just beginning her transition and is still faced with the prospect of telling her own family about it; Nya, working at the club since she was 19, who has always considered herself to be female, even as early as the age of three; and Xristina, born in the Caribbean Islands and a proud Dominican, who knew from the age of four that she wasn't like everyone else and whose turning point came at 17 when her mom did her makeup for Halloween, telling her that she looked beautiful.

Season 2 of TRANSCENDENT premiered on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 11:30pm ET/PT on Fuse, with Xristina, Nya, LA, Bionka, and Bambiana all returning. The ladies of AsiaSF are back for a second season and still defining who they are. From looking for love to fighting for their careers, it's gonna be a bumpy ride. A long-time advocate for the transgender community, Xristina is a member of the first-ever transgender choir known as "Transcendence Gospel Choir" and dreams of becoming a Hollywood star. Having realized her dream of becoming an AsiaSF manager, Nya is faced with the reality of managing the different -- and very strong -- personalities at the club. Nya considers her fellow dancers to be her family and keeping peace amongst the group as is challenging as it is important to her. Still looking for guidance from her friends as she explores her physical transition, LA has come into her own with both a new love and newfound confidence. Bionka is trained in modern dance and recently recorded her first ever single, "Lift Mah Shirt." She aspires to work in film and on Broadway, and would someday love to be a professional stylist. She was also recently named Miss Gay United States 2016. Bambina, a vegan and strong supporter of animal rights, is a successful hairstylist who hopes to graduate from being a part-time performer and hostess to a full-fledged "Lady of AsiaSF."
