Plot Synopsis
TRAINWRECK: WOODSTOCK '99 is a three-episode documentary series that chronicles the story of Woodstock 99, which was supposed to be a millennium-defining celebration of peace, love and great music. Instead, the festival degenerated into an epic trainwreck of fires, riots and destruction. Utilizing rare insider footage and eyewitness interviews with festival staffers, performers and attendees, this docuseries goes behind the scenes to reveal the egos, greed and music that fueled three days of utter chaos. Fatboy Slim, Bush's Gavin Rossdale, Korn's Jonathan Davis, Jewel and Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang look back. All three episodes of TRAINWRECK: WOODSTOCK '99 dropped on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 on Netflix:
"How the F**k Did This Happen?": The 1999 fest takes a hard swerve away from 1969 Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang's vision with a military base locale, profit focus and toxic vibe.
"Kerosene. Match. Boom!": Endless trash and seething heat feed the chaos on day two as performers are pelted with debris and Limp Bizkit riles the crowd to its breaking point.
"You Can't Stop a Riot in the 90s": Tainted water and price gouging mar day three. Fear grips the finale, fires spread, and the mob takes over. Later, sexual assault allegations emerge.
