Plot Synopsis

Three hosts -- comedian and car buff Adam Ferrara, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust, and racing analyst Rutledge Wood -- celebrate automobiles and driving in an offbeat way. This program also includes on-set interviews with celebrities, and the U.S version also includes The Stig, a masked stunt driver who takes each one of the featured cars through the ultimate test around the Top Gear track, setting the benchmark time that each car will be judged by. For the show's third season, Adam, Tanner and Rut race against speed boats, snowmobiles and jets, test the most modern police cars (hint: it's not the Crown Victoria) and see how far you can REALLY get on one tank of gas. TOP GEAR returned with new episodes on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 9pm ET on History, featuring the three guys taking a road trip to Mexico -- in the cars they drove in college. During the rest of the season, the guys tackled volcanoes and glaciers in America's toughest 4 wheel drives, reinvented the RV and taxis, and built a car for the apocalypse. TOP GEAR returned for its fourth season on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on History, as Adam, Tanner and Rutledge raced from New York City to Los Angeles on an epic 3000-mile road trip across the country in brand new supercars. After a six-month break, TOP GEAR returned with new episodes on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on History. In "American Muscle," the Season 5 premiere, two of the hosts get the chance to compete in the Gatornationals drag race in Ford, Chevy and Dodge production drag cars -- but to find out which two, Adam, Tanner and Rutledge compete a series of challenges in "resto-mod" muscle cars designed to see which of them has the skills to race in the big leagues. History premiered a new season of TOP GEAR on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the new season, Tanner, Adam and Rutledge pull out all the stops exploring all things automobile, and taking on challenges that have never been done before. Whether it's being the first people to photo map the legendary Rubicon Trail, or the first Americans to legally drag race in Cuba in a half century, they push the boundaries of what can be done on four wheels. They'll also attempt to build the perfect postal delivery vehicle, train in war games with the U.S. Army, and compete in a grueling 24 hour endurance race. Tanner, Adam and Rutledge, along with The Stig, crisscross the world from Sweden to Cuba, from the Rocky Mountains to the Mojave Desert, driving some of the most cutting edge vehicles the automotive industry has to offer, including the Koenigsegg One:1, the Tesla model S P90D, and the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. In the season opener (9pm), "Rubicon Trail," the guys travel deep into California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains to do something that's never been done before -- photo map the Rubicon Trail. They take on America's most notorious 4x4 route in a race against time to photo map the entire trail before they must present their images at Google headquarters. Then, in the night's second new episode (10pm), "America vs. Europe," the tackle automotive stereotypes by taking on the age old question: which country makes the best car? The guys battle it out in cars from past and present manufactured in the countries of their ancestors: Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom; and go head to head against one of America's most badass, track prepped speed demons.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, History premiered the series finale of TOP GEAR. In the series ender, "Cuba," Tanner, Adam, and Rutledge head to Cuba where they test and modify three classic American cars, then attempt to make history by competing in a government-sanctioned drag race and become the first Americans to legally race in Cuba in a half-century.
