Plot Synopsis
Each episode ponders one great question of life -- questions like: Is there a creator? Is time travel possible? What happened before the beginning? How did we get here? Are we alone? What are we really made of? As the program goes to the the forefront of mankind's search for answers, it reveals innovative scientific research and the astonishing theories of world-leading experts at NASA, Oxford University, Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire (CERN), Arizona University, the SETI Institute, Penn State University, Princeton University, M.I.T., Fermilab National Laboratory and more. Debuting on Science Channel on Wednesday, July 4, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, Season 4 of THROUGH THE WORMHOLE explored these questions: When Does Life Begin?; Did God Create Evolution?; How Do Aliens Think?; Can Our Minds Be Hacked?; Will Sex Become Extinct?; and four more mysteries and controversies. THROUGH THE WORMHOLE returned for its fifth season on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel. In the Season 5 premiere, "Is Poverty Genetic?," this episode examined whether the wealthy were born in the right place at the right time or if physics and biology determines who is rich and who is poor. Remaining episodes in Season 5 explore these topics: "How to Collapse a Superpower"; "Does the Ocean Think?"; "Is a Zombie Apocalypse Possible?"; "Is Gravity An Illusion?"; "When Did Time Begin?"; "Is There A Shadow Universe?"; and "Will We Become God?". On Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Science Channel premiered the six-episode sixth season of THROUGH THE WORMHOLE. Season 6 tackles such tough topics as race, religion, bigotry, the human proclivity for lying, and our future as a species, as leading scientists, who lend their voices and research to the show, participate live through Science Channel's website and social feed. According to executive producer Morgan Freeman, "When we first began this journey, I never imagined how many questions could be examined and how far mankind could push the boundaries of what was possible. This season, we've given the series a bold new look and the questions are more provocative than ever." Season 7 of THROUGH THE WORMHOLE premiered on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel. This season features some of the world's top experts plumbing deep and sometimes troubling questions, providing new insights on some of the planet's most compelling topics. In the season premiere, Freeman explores "What Makes a Terrorist?," as experts examine terrorism through the lens of science, revealing how a terrorist's brain is shaped and asks, "If we can understand how a terrorist thinks, can we actually win the war on terror?"

On Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Science Channel, THROUGH THE WORMHOLE WITH MORGAN FREEMAN returned with the first of its final four episodes. In this new episode, "Is the Force with Us?," the program celebrates the 40th anniversary of STAR WARS, and explores new research that is beginning to reveal a hidden force in the universe -- one that penetrates space with trillions of invisible connections, instantly linking every place in our world and joining our future with our past. Is the Force with us? The remaining three episodes are:
"Can We Cheat Death?" (Tuesday, May 2 at 10pm): Death is life's greatest certainty. But that may be about to change. Scientists have discovered an immortal animal that may hold the secret of endless regeneration. They're on the brink of editing our DNA so that we can cure death like a disease. Or is dying necessary for the survival of our species?
"Can We Hack the Planet?" (Tuesday, May 9 at 10pm): Humanity is under threat - from storms that seem to get ever fiercer, earthquakes that seem ever more deadly, and killer viruses that are engulfing the globe. Some scientists think it's time for us to fight back. Can we - should we -hack the planet?
"Is Gun Crime a Virus?" (Tuesday, May 16 at 10pm): Series Finale. Every 17 minutes in America, someone is killed with a gun. Politicians can't seem to stop the violence. But epidemiologists, psychologists and big data crunchers are discovering that gun crime spreads like a virus -and science may be able to stop its spread.
