Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Bill Kurtis, THROUGH THE DECADES is a one-hour daily informational and entertainment series that taps the resources of the CBS News and ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT archives to let viewers experience a different year or day, trend or event. From moon shots to galvanizing events to pop culture snapshots in time, this series unlocks history, exploring the decades of the 1950s through the 1990s, while providing commentary on the historical and cultural significance of each. THROUGH THE DECADES premiered at 7am ET/PT on Memorial Day 2015 (Monday, May 25), the day that the new Decades network, a multicast TV network from Weigel Broadcasting Co. and CBS Television Stations, debuted. The series opener examined the role of Memorial Day in American history, the birth of the summer blockbuster movie with STAR WARS in 1977, and the American Airlines 191 crash in 1979. Decades repeated this program at 1pm, 7pm and 1am later the same day.
