Plot Synopsis

From the writer and directors of CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE, this one-hour dramedy series follows a unique ensemble of characters whose paths cross. As their life stories intertwine in curious ways, they discover that several of them share the same birthday -- and so much more than anyone would expect. By the second episode, Kate is furiously working hard to shed her unwanted pounds as she continues to struggle with impatience and discouragement. She receives support from her new boyfriend, Toby, as he helps her let loose and enjoy herself. Beth begins to question the motives of Randall's biological father, William, and takes action in getting answers on his activities. Randall has a lot more on his mind with the new life-changing addition of having his biological father in his life. Marriage and raising three 8-year-old children is beginning to take its toll on Rebecca and Jack as they start to feel distant from one another. Kevin faces the aftermath of quitting his job as he deals with his agent, Lanie, and has to figure out how to move forward. THIS IS US premieres on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, and moves to 9pm starting October 11.

The sophomore season of THIS IS US premiered on Tuesday, September 26 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. The season opener, "A Father's Advice," picks up during the Big 3's 37th birthdays as Randall and Beth debate a big life change, Kate takes the first step in pursuing a new passion and Kevin balances the demands of his career and relationship. Meanwhile, Jack and Rebecca deal with the fallout of their big fight.

Season 3 of THIS IS US premiered on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "Nine Bucks," Randall, Kate and Kevin find themselves on new paths as they each celebrate their 38th birthday.

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, NBC premiered the fourth season of THIS IS US. In the season opener, "Strangers," Jack meets Rebecca's parents. New characters are introduced, played by Asante Blackk, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Omar Epps, Bahara Golestani, Jennifer Morrison, Timothy Omundson, M. Night Shyamalan, Julian Silva, Auden Thornton and Nick Wechsler.

Season 5 of THIS IS US kicked off with a two-hour season opener on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 9-11pm ET/PT on NBC. In the two-hour premiere, "Forty," the Pearsons gather to celebrate their 40th birthday while musing about the day they were born. The next new episode debuted Tuesday, November 10 -- one week after Election Day 2020. After a seven-week break, THIS IS US returned with new episodes on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the winter premiere, "A Long Road Home," Kate confronts her past. Randall's brush with viral fame leads to an unexpected discovery. Kevin debates the best path for his future.

THIS IS US returned for its sixth and final season on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "The Challenger," the Big Three celebrate their 41st birthday. After taking a break for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, THIS IS US returned with new episodes on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In this new episode, "Our Little Island Girl (Part 2)," Beth prepares her dancers for the first big dance recital at her new job.
