Plot Synopsis

Set in 1970s Los Angeles when THE TONIGHT SHOW first moved from New York to Burbank, THERE'S....JOHNNY! is a half-hour comedy series that centers on Andy Klavin, a wide-eyed 19-year-old Nebraskan who stumbles his way into a job at THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON, and Joy, a young talent coordinator on the show, as they both try to find their way and prove themselves in this period of cultural and political upheaval. The duo work with the show's writers and producer Freddie DeCordova. Andy also discovers that Joy is unlike any woman he's ever met, and must juggle his confusing feelings for her. When he's given his first important task at work, one bad thing happens after another, but somehow he ends up back on is feet and manages to give Joy the credit she so rarely gets. The series touches on major historical events of the time, including the Vietnam War, Nixon, and the strengthening counter-culture, as well the show's status as one of the most popular and important cultural institution of its day. Originally scheduled to debut on August 24, 2017 on Seeso, THERE'S...JOHNNY! had its release canceled when the streaming service announced on August 9 it was shutting down. The series found a new home on Hulu, which released the entire seven-episode first season on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.
