Plot Synopsis
Created and executive produced by Bill Lawrence and series star Jason Sudeikis, TED LASSO is a half-hour comedy series that centers on Ted Lasso, an American football coach from small-time program in Kansas, who is hired by a wealthy divorcee to coach the professional English soccer team AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching soccer. On Ted's first day, the fans aren't happy and he makes little headway, but he remains optimistic as the team plays its first match. TED LASSO is based on a pre-existing format and characters from a series of NBC Sports' commercials for the English Premier League, starting in 2013. On Friday, August 14, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Apple TV+ released the first three episodes of TED LASSO. A new episode debuts each subsequent Friday through October 2.
The 12-episode second season of TED LASSO dropped on Friday, July 23, 2021, as Apple TV+ released the first episode of the new season. In the season opener, "Goodbye Earl," AFC Richmond brings in a sports psychologist to help the team overcome their unprecedented seven game tie-streak. A new episode debuts each Friday thereafter.
Apple TV+ premieres Season 3 of TED LASSO on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The newly promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate, now hailed as the "wonder kid," has gone to work for Rupert at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate's contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent steps up as assistant coach alongside Beard. Meanwhile, as Ted deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home; Rebecca is focused on defeating Rupert; and Keeley navigates being the boss of her own PR agency. Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway. The first episode dropped on March 15, with a new episode debuting each week through May 31.
