Plot Synopsis

Freddie is a free man after spending a considerable stretch in prison, and now he plans to take the underworld by storm. As events unfold, his wife Jackie becomes increasingly unstable, not helped by the actions of her younger sister, Maggie, who is in love with Freddie's cousin, Jimmy, who works with Freddie to make names for themselves. While Freddie and Jimmy are on the outside, little do they know that their fate is being controlled by prisoner Ozzy, who helps the pair form alliances. But he can't help them work together, and Jimmy takes control after Freddie's behavior almost ruins a deal. When Ozzy is attacked in prison, the boys reach a breaking point, but Jimmy knows what he needs to do to become the boss. Meanwhile, Jackie and Maggie share a secret they plan to keep from everyone. The story takes place in four parts, with each episode spanning one or two years between 1984 and 1995. Encore aired the U.S. premiere of this program on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 9pm ET/PT, and showed the miniseries on four consecutive Fridays in December.
