Plot Synopsis
Set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s, SYDNEY TO THE MAX is a half-hour sitcom that centers on outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds who lives with her protective yet doting single dad Max in the house where he grew up, along with her trendy and progressive grandmother Judy. As Sydney's preteen pursuits begin to expand with unexpected and funny twists, Max tries to get a better sense of the guidance, perspective and support she needs. Grandma, armed with parental wisdom and wisecracks, has a razor-sharp memory that proves Max's own teenage antics parallel Sydney's. Whether it is experimenting with a new hairstyle that becomes a #HairFail, deciding to stand up for gender equality or learning how to deal with unexpected body hair, flashback scenes to a young Max and his best friend Leo parallel the challenging and often comical predicaments Sydney and her vivacious friend Olive find themselves in. While their adolescence is separated by three decades as well as generation-defining tech and fashion (think VHS camcorders and bleached skater hair) in every episode, Sydney and Max grow closer as they learn they have more in common than they initially thought.
The second season of SYDNEY TO THE MAX premiered on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on Disney Channel. Season 2 continues to follow outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds who lives with her single dad Max in the house he grew up in, along with her free-spirited grandmother Judy. As Sydney navigates becoming a teenager alongside her bestie Olive, Max's flashbacks of his childhood with his best friend Leo parallel her adventures, illustrating how life's "growing pains" evolve but don't really change. During premiere week, Disney debuted new episodes of SYDNEY TO THE MAX at 8pm nightly through Friday, March 27.

Season 3 of SYDNEY TO THE MAX debuted on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 8:25pm ET/PT on Disney Channel. Storylines featured in the new season touch upon the pitfalls of social media, funny moments when dealing with your crush, and adapting to having a virtual bat mitzvah instead of your dream celebration. In the season opener, "Tearin' Up My Room," Syd returns home from music camp feeling more mature and independent, but her room doesn't reflect the new artsy Syd -- but much to her surprise, Max allows her to remodel her room.
