Plot Synopsis

SWAMP MONSTERS follows Elliot Guidry and his team of BEAST (the Bayou Enforcement Agency on Supernatural Threats), as they investigate Cajun creatures that thrive in the muck and mud of Louisiana's bayou, where residents have been reporting mysterious encounters for 100 years. Risking life and limb, the group is ready for track these marshy monsters, while battling the elements and doubters. Elliot, the team leader, is a hunting and fishing guide who has seen the signs of deadly bayou creatures but has never been close enough to take a shot. Now, he's ready to take back the swamp with the help of his life-long friends: Yak, a weapons and tactics aficionado, who is a U.S. Army veteran and the mastermind behind behind all the traps; Boudic, an expert tracker, who has lived in Louisiana his entire life, giving him the advantage of having sighted numerous abnormal presences; and Nacho, a water navigator and wild man, who also serves as the team researcher. In each one-hour episode, the BEAST team looks for one monster, including: The Grunch -- skin and bones, dog-like creatures with ridged backs, standing three feet tall and emitting a horrible screech -- which have been terrorizing Louisiana residents for centuries; the notorious 400 pound Honey Island Swamp Monster; and the legendary Rougarou, better known as Cajun werewolf. SWAMP MONSTERS was originally scheduled to debut on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Destination America, but the cable channel changed its schedule at the last minute. Less than one week later, Discovery Channel premiered the series on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, before SWAMP MONSTERS moved to Destination America on Friday nights at 10pm ET/PT, starting September 19, 2014.
