Plot Synopsis

Jean Paul Desmond is an industrialist and one of the wealthiest men in the world. When his wife Erica dies, he puts her body in cryogenic storage and searches for any way to revive her. While on a Caribbean Island named Maljardin, he turns from science to black magic and releases the spirit of his 300-year-old ancestor, Jacques Eloi De Monde, whose spirit sometimes possesses Jean Paul and other times appears as a talking portrait. Jean Paul makes a deal with the devil and is able to revive his wife, but Erica must kill all visitors to the island and is no longer the woman he once loved. Eventually -- after 65 episodes -- Jacques is sent back to the other side, and Jean Paul burns down the Island mansion, killing Erica. Jean Paul then returns to his birthplace and ancestral home, Desmond Hall, only to find out that his family is afflicted with a killing curse -- whenever a certain star is shining, a mark appears on his hand and he is forced to murder people. He must discover the origin of the curse so he can remove it from his family lineage while protecting his family fortune from the local coven of witches.
