Plot Synopsis
In this one-hour western drama series, a fateful meeting in 1869 Alberta-Montana border country leads to tragedy, a struggle for survival and the search for justice and renewal, as three women -- Kat, a mother mourning her child's death; Rebecca, an unaccredited surgeon with nowhere to practice; and Isabelle, a con artist who runs a house of prostitution -- are brought together by tragedy in no man's land. With most of their men gone, and those who remain battling for control, the women struggle to survive, to find their independence, and to build a life in which to thrive and raise families. As the stories of Janestown's citizens unfold, STRANGE EMPIRE: RISE OF THE WOMEN reveals the clash between a power-hungry father and son, the deep prejudices among races, and the start of something akin to community in this Wild West. LMN aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back episodes.
