Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1985, THE STELLAR AWARDS have honored the best in gospel music in 28 different categories. From 1986 through 2008, THE STELLAR AWARDS were a live-to-tape celebration, airing only in national syndication, starting approximately one week after the ceremony. In 2009, GMC aired THE STELLAR AWARDS for the first time, but only after the ceremony's syndicated run was over. After the same broadcast arrangement in 2010, GMC aired the live-to-tape 2011 awards on the same day as the event's syndicated premiere. In 2013, the event was broadcast live for the first time by GMC and then again in 2014 on UP. Starting with 2015, THE STELLAR AWARDS was again a live-to-tape celebration, now broadcast by TV One each year.

Hosted by Rickey Smiley and Loni Love, the 2024 STELLAR AWARDS premiered on Sunday, August 4, 2023 from 8-10pm ET/PT on BET and BET Her after being taped at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV, on July 20. The 39th STELLAR GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS features performances by handler Moore, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard, Anthony Brown and group therAPy, Da' T.R.U.T.H, Deitrick Haddon, Israel Houghton, Kelontae Gavin, Koryn Hawthorne, Lisa Knowles-Smith, Mali Music, Melvin Crispell III, Rich Tolbert Jr., and Ricky Dillard.

Kim Burrell receives the Aretha Franklin Icon Award, while artist and pastor Tye Tribbett accepts the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tye Tribbett is the leading nominee for the 2024 STELLAR AWARDS, with eight nods. Pastor Mike Jr. and Ricky Dillard each received six nods; Jonathan McReynolds and Erica Campbell each received five.
