Plot Synopsis

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS is a half-hour animated series that focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet's least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos, in 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies. The Starfleet crew residing in the "lower decks" of the U.S.S. Cerritos. CBS All Access released the first episode on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, with a new episode debuting each Thursday thereafter. In the series opener, "Second Contact," Ensign Tendi has her first day of work on Starfleet's U.S.S. Cerritos, where she meets fellow support crew members, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler and Rutherford. Meanwhile, Boimler is tasked with a secret special assignment and Rutherford attempts to keep his dating life intact while a sci-fi disaster strikes the ship.

The 10-episode second season of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS kicks off approximately three months after the events of the Season 1 finale, as the U.S.S. Cerritos is dispatched on a mission where it ends up in a sci-fi event resulting in "strange energy," which Commander Ransom inadvertently absorbs. The Season 2 opener dropped on Thursday, August 12, 2021 on Paramount+, with a new episode debuting each Thursday through October 14.

Season 3 of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS premiered on Thursday, August 25, 2022, as Paramount+ released the first installment of the 10-episode new season. A new episode drops each Thursday through October 27. In the season opener, "Grounded," Mariner enlists her friends on a rogue mission to exonerate her mother, as Captain Freeman faces a military tribunal for the destruction of Pakled Planet.

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS returned for its fourth season on Thursday, September 7, 2023 on Paramount+, which released the first two episodes of the new season. In the season opener, "Twovix," the Cerritos ensigns must assist a caretaker on the voyage of a historically significant starship. Then, in the second episode, "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee," Mariner tries to get demoted, Rutherford tries to get promoted, Boimler makes a big move.

The fifth and final season of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS debuted on Thursday, October 24, 2024 on Paramount+, which released the first two episodes. A new installment drops weekly on Thursdays through December 19. In Season 5, the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos is tasked with closing "space potholes" -- subspace rifts that are causing chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. Pothole duty would be easy for Junior Officers Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford ... if they didn't also have to deal with an Orion war, furious Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries and scariest of all: their own career aspirations. This season is a celebration of this underdog crew who are dangerously close to being promoted out of the lower decks and into strange new Starfleet roles.
