Plot Synopsis
Based on Stephen King's book of the same name, THE STAND is a nine-episode limited series about a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the Dark Man. The story opens shortly after the "Captain Trips" flu epidemic wipes out more than 99% of the population. The remaining few who survived and are immune to the disease -- including Stu Redman, Frannie Goldsmith, and Harold Lauder -- set out in search of other survivors, all the while, experiencing visions of the nurturing Mother Abigail and the menacing figure of The Dark Man. CBS All Access released the first episode of THE STAND on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, with a new episode debuting each Thursday thereafter through February 11, 2021.
