Plot Synopsis

SOUTH OF HELL is a one-hour supernatural horror drama series that centers on Maria Abascal, a 30-year-old demon-hunter-for-hire living in Charleston, SC, who is skilled and fearless in her pursuit of the demons that live in others. But like those that she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own demon, Abigail, who resides inside of her, feeding on the evil Maria exorcises from others. Maria and Abigail share a soul -- and a destiny -- but as Maria desperately tries to overtake Abigail, she discovers how far Abigail will go to remain a part of her. Maria's fiercely loyal brother, David, has a talent for finding clients desperate enough to pay for Maria's unique brand of exorcism, but he also has his own demon to fight: a dangerous addiction to heroin. Their father, Enos, was founder of The Order of Everlasting -- a doomsday cult with unspeakable power -- and will stop at nothing to gain control of Maria and unleash the forces of Hell. At the same time, Rev. Elijah Bledsoe is a mysterious priest with a strong attraction to Maria. Bledsoe is both an ally and an enigma, and Maria finds herself drawn to him in spite of their simmering tension -- but can she trust a man of God with so many dark secrets of his own? Bledsoe's daughter, Grace, is a former member of Enos' cult, but her innocent demeanor masks an inner strength of unimaginable power. Other characters include: Dusty, Maria's neighbor; southern belle Charlotte Roberts; Sweetmouth, the local drug dealer; and Tetra, a spiritual informant. On Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6pm-1am ET/PT, WE tv premiered the entire series, showing all seven episodes back to back as part of the cable channel's Black Friday Binge television event.
