Plot Synopsis

Created, written and executive produced by Fab Filippo and Bilal Baig, who also stars in the series, SORT OF is a coming-of-age dramedy series that follows the journey of Sabi Mehboob, a gender fluid millennial who straddles various identities from sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore/bar, to the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family. Sabi feels like they're in transition in every aspect of their life, from gender to love to sexuality to family to career. An official selection of the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, SORT OF made its U.S. debut on Thursday, November 18, 2021 on HBO Max.

Season 2 of SORT OF made its U.S. debut on HBO Max on Thursday, December 1, 2022, as the streaming service released the first two episodes of the new season. Two episodes drop weekly through December 22. The eight-episode second season is the season of love. Love includes your friends, family, work, romantic love and, most importantly, one's self-love. Sabi decides that not only are they ready for some uncomplicated romance but they also want everyone to love each other. Unfortunately, Sabi is faced with situations and relationships that are anything but simple, including their dad's unexpected return from Dubai, the Kaneko-Bauers' struggles as Bessy is released from rehab and issues at Bar Buk.

The third season of SORT OF made its U.S. debut on Thursday, January 18, 2024 on Max, which released the first two episodes. Two episodes drop each week through February 8. Sabi comes to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. Without the constraints of living up to dad's expectations, Sabi confronts big questions about their identity, prompting some massive life choices. In a season that has the entire ensemble grappling with aftermaths, a rebirth comes in a sort of messy, sort of hopeful, sort of "Sort Of" way.

On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the final two episodes of SORT OF's third season made their U.S. debut on Max:

"Sort of the Anything You Want": Eight months after Imran's death, Raffo teeters on an emotional ledge. Meanwhile, Sabi and Wolf attempt to overcome their differences as 7ven and Mackenzie forge an unexpected connection.

"Sort 0f Gone Again": After deciding to leave Toronto, Sabi says good-bye to their loved ones and seeks closure with Wolf. Later, a new addition marks a fresh start for the Mehboob family.
