Plot Synopsis
Ichabod Crane, a captain from the American Revolutionary War, travels through time to modern-day Westchester County, where he partners with Det. Abbie Mills to solve the town's mysteries. Before leaving for the FBI Academy, Abbie witnesses a brutal murder of someone close to her. Since only one person, Ichabod, can corroborate her story, they team up to investigate the case, and Ichabod -- even though he's confused by modern-day technology -- proves to be a great detective when The Headless Horseman comes back to haunt the town. At the same time, Capt. Frank Irving, the head of Abbie's police precinct, is faced with bizarre events he can't explain, while likeable local cop Andy Brooks has Abbie's back. Ichabod's wife, Katrina, is a Revolutionary War nurse with the 37th Regiment. SLEEPY HOLLOW's two-hour season finale event aired on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 8-10pm ET/PT on Fox. In the first hour of the finale, "The Indispensable Man," Ichabod and Abbie discover a massive secret buried within the pages of George Washington's Bible and unearth the shocking true nature of the founding father's death. Meanwhile, Captain Irving makes a near-impossible decision for the sake of his beloved family that drastically changes his future. Then, in "Bad Blood," the battle between good and evil comes to an explosive head -- sacrifices must be made, worlds collide, loyalties are tested and the town of Sleepy Hollow will never be the same. SLEEPY HOLLOW returned for its 13-episode second season on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX. The season opener, "This Is War ," picks up immediately after multiple cliffhangers at the end of Season 1: Ichabod is buried alive in a coffin; Abbie is trapped in purgatory; Katrina was kidnapped by the Headless Horseman; Capt. Irving is behind bars for a murder he did not commit; and Abbie's sister, Jenny, is among the wreckage of a horrific car crash. These events were due in large part to the revelation that Henry, the trusted friend of Ichabod and Abbie, is actually Ichabod and Katrina's son and the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse. In the new season, two new characters are introduced: Sheriff Reyes and his no-nonsense attitude threatens Ichabod and Abbie's progress; and the appearance of Hawley adds romantic intrigue and a touch of scandal. For their part, Ichabod and Abbie face a new slew of netherworld evils and must combat them, at times, using fire to fight fire. Plus, the realization that their No. 1 foe is actually Ichabod's son places loyalties to the ultimate test. Season 3 of SLEEPY HOLLOW premiered on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on FOX. The conclusion of Season 2 left Ichabod Crane and Lieutenant Abbie Mills with a decisive, albeit heartbreaking, victory over evil. In the name of good, Crane made the ultimate decision to kill his wife, Katrina Crane. With evil seemingly at bay, the third season will explore how the partnership between Crane and Mills will evolve and what challenges these two witnesses will now face. Clifton Campbell has signed on as executive producer and showrunner for Season 3. In the season opener, "I, Witness," Abbie and Crane are seemingly moving on with their lives with old enemies gone; however, the discovery of a mysterious tablet shows that there may be a new dark prophecy surrounding our Witnesses. The two team together, with the help of an old amulet, and continue their epic takedown of the forces of evil. On Friday, January 6, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT, FOX premiered the fourth season of SLEEPY HOLLOW. In the season opener, "Columbia," Crane and Jenny begin to navigate life following the unexpected death of Abbie Mills. When he finds himself in a the nation's capital, Crane must forge unlikely partnerships in his quest to find the next Witness, as he discovers that there is more evil at play than he realized was possible. "Columbia" is SLEEPY HOLLOW's 50th episode.
