Plot Synopsis

Each summer since 2013, Nat Geo WILD -- and later Nat Geo Channel -- has hosted SHARKFEST, a week-long television event that features a week of insights from shark experts and footage of shark behavior, providing a comprehensive look at the species in all their glory.

SHARKFEST 2024

National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD make a splash with its twelfth annual SHARKFEST this summer, kicking off the four-week event on Sunday, June 30, 2024 on National Geographic, with additional programming on Nat Geo WILD, Disney+, Hulu, Nat Geo Mundo, and ESPN2. Encore presentations air on Disney XD, and collection pages are available on the Nat Geo TV app and ABC app. 2024 programming includes:

"Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie: Gulf Coast": Marvel superhero Anthony Mackie, known for his role in THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, stars and serves as executive producer. The hour-long special follows Mackie navigating the waters of his hometown, New Orleans, alongside leading scientists and local fishermen. The focus is on understanding how to balance fishermen's livelihoods, local safety, and shark conservation.

Cutting-edge VFX technology is used in the 360-shark lab to analyze data and understand, in forensic detail, the reasons behind shark attacks.
