Plot Synopsis

SELF EMPLOYED is a quarter-hour docuseries that follows Fort Worth, Texas-based entrepreneur Jonathan Morris, as he travels across the United States to meet some of the country's most inspiring small business owners. Together, they share stories of unwavering resilience, insatiable ambition, and the winding roads they traveled to successfully build their dream jobs. Each 30-minute installment showcases a new entrepreneur and digs into the challenges of business. On Monday, January 4, 2021 -- the day that discovery+ launched -- the streaming service released the first 16-minute episode of SELF EMPLOYED, which officially debuted later in 2021 on Magnolia Network. In the first episode, "The Cheesecake Engineer," self-made entrepreneur Jonathan Morris heads to Dallas, Texas, to learn the story of former engineer and cheesecake extraordinaire Val Jean-Bart of Val's Cheesecakes. On Friday, August 27, 2021, the Magnolia App officially launched SELF EMPLOYED, released four episodes of the series, including the sneak-peek.

SELF EMPLOYED made its linear television debut on Friday, May 13, 2022 from Noon-1pm ET, as Magnolia Network aired back-to-back episodes.
