Plot Synopsis
SECRETS OF THE THIRD REICH is a four-part documentary series that reveals and explores little-known stories that played a large role in determining the fate of World War II and those who fought in it. The four one-hour episodes are: "Hitler's General," which chronicles the story of Erwin Rommel, a morally conflicted high-ranking member of the Nazi Party, who was the German Army's idol but often refused to carry out extreme orders -- and ultimately aided an assassination plot against the Fuhrer; "Hitler's Madness," which documents the life of Hitler's personal physician, Theodor Morell, whose records reveal evidence about Hitler's drug abuse and mental illness; "The Ghost of U-513," which recounts the story of this German sub which became a tomb for all but seven of her crew after being bombed by a U.S. patrol plane in 1943; and "Deadly Missions," which revisits four infamous secret WWII missions, executed by both sides, including the haphazard rescue of Mussolini, a notorious Nazi's assassination, and an audacious kidnapping with a surprise ending.
