Plot Synopsis

This spinoff of UGLIEST HOUSE IN AMERICA follows Retta as she checks out the scary instead of the ugly when she hunts for the spookiest properties in Scariest House in America. Retta tours nine eerie and terrifying houses through the Midwest, Northeast and South that have everything from built-in death traps and questionable taxidermy to daunting basements and ghost sightings. Along the way, Retta shares her unfiltered views about each home's scary appearance, bad function, and fright factor. HGTV will deem one house the "scariest" of them all and award the homeowners a $150,000 renovation by popular network designer Alison Victoria. SCARIEST HOUSE IN AMERICA features a former jail inhabited by bats, an alleged mobster hideout, and a crumbling home that gives off witchy vibes. Episodes include:

"Nightmares in the Northeast" (Friday, October 4, 2024 at 9pm): Three scary homes in the Nightmarish Northeast battle for a chance at a $150,000 makeover by designer Alison Victoria! It's between a house with a giant well in the kitchen, a custom home full of death traps, and a former jail with a scary bat problem.

"The Midwest Gets Mysterious" (Friday, October 11, 2024 at 9pm): Three scary homes in the Mysterious Midwest square off for the chance at a $150,000 makeover by designer Alison Victoria! It's between a haunted house with deathly decor, a home full of ghosts with a terrifying basement, and a church surrounded by graves.

"The Scariest in the Spooky South" (Friday, October 18, 2024 at 9pm): Three scary homes in the Spooky South vie for a chance at a $150,000 makeover courtesy of designer Alison Victoria! It's between a former hideout for mobsters, a historic house full of witches and ghosts, and a haunted dollhouse with creepy critters.

"From Scary to Beautiful " (Friday, October 25, 2024 from 9-10pm): The road trip comes to an end as Retta reveals the winner of the Scariest House in America! Then, the winning house receives a $150,000 home renovation from HGTV's Alison Victoria, transforming their once scary house into a once-in-a-lifetime dream home.
