Plot Synopsis
Master sugar artist Kerry Vincent travels across the United States to reinvigorate local family-operated bakeries, mending the strained relationships behind the struggling establishments so the families can heal and put the pieces of their failing business back together. From bolstering old doughnut recipes to improving employee morale, Kerry turns poor pastries into delectable desserts and outdated spaces into truly sweet spots. In each one-hour episode of this series, Kerry transforms one bakery, including: Viking Pastries (Ardmore, PA), which lost its heart and soul after a family tragedy and has been relying on aging clientele and old school recipes; Phatso's Bakery (Chester, PA), whose owner, Richard, refuses to believe that his sons aren't passionate about keeping the donut shop's legacy alive; Schubert's Bakery (Nazareth, PA), whose owner, Steve, is unmotivated and grumpy because of long hours and declining sales; Flourtown Bakery (Flourtown, PA), whose owners, Frank and Denise, have tapped into their pensions, borrowed from family, maxed out credit cards and put off vacations to keep the place open; Schenk's Family Bakery (Philadelphia, PA), which makes so little dough that the staff doesn't get paid some weeks; and Holmesburg Bakery (Philadelphia, PA), whose owner, George, is adamant on keeping old traditions alive while his son, Buddy, wants to see high-tech bakery innovations prevail. SAVE MY BAKERY first aired as a one-hour special on Monday, July 8, 2013 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Cooking Channel, more than eight months before its official series premiere on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network.
