Plot Synopsis

Organized by The San Francisco Bowl Game Association, The Bay Area's bowl game began in 2002 as the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl, featuring Virginia Tech beating Air Force 20-13 at Pac Bell Park. The Bowl and the Pac-12 initially aligned in 2006, when UCLA played Florida State in the first-ever pairing of two storied programs. The Pac-12 has been represented in every subsequent year save for 2010. Since 2014, the Big Ten has been attached to the bowl. Because of COVID-19, the game was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.
