Plot Synopsis
This one-hour reality series follows WWE superstar Chuck Palumbo and hot-rod guru Rick Dore, as they hunt for people with stockpiles of classic cars, offering each one the same deal: pick one dream car from their overcrowded car collection to transform into a show-worthy vehicle while covering the costs of the remake by parting with and selling other cars and car parts from their massive hoard. Chuck and Rick's business, SLAM, keeps any leftover profits, while the hoarder gets a kick-ass ride and a much needed fresh start after confronting their obsession and personal struggles that fueled it. Every hoard is a surprise and a treasure hunt -- and Palumbo and Dore don't always know what they're getting into -- which means the duo must rebuild each vehicle on a tight budget as they try to make a profit. In the series premiere, Chuck and Rick traveled to Kregg Tariske's backyard, where they expected to find classic Corvettes, but saw a stockpile of Corvairs instead. Rick immediately wanted to leave, but Chuck, anxious to get their business off the ground, convinced Kregg to let go of all but one of his beloved lot: a convertible he bought for his girlfriend, Beth. In return, Chuck promised to turn Kregg's beat-up 1964 Corvair Greenbrier Van into a head-turning one-off vehicle. By the time Chuck realized that Kregg's cars were worthless, they were deep into the build and he had to grapple with Rick, their budget, and even the hoarder. After airing as LORDS OF THE CAR HOARDS for its first season, this series returns for Season 2 with a new title, RUSTED DEVELOPMENT, on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery. Last season, Rick and Chuck were forced to shut the doors to SLAM garage, but these two car experts are reopening SLAM and jumping back into the hoarder scene with challenges more daunting than ever. This season has everything from six-figure builds including a 1937 Zephyr (the holy grail of custom cars), to a Vietnam war veteran who hopes to honor his late father's memory by rebuilding a 1957 Thunderbird. Palumbo also takes on a project very close to his heart -- restoring his father's 1965 Corvette, a car that set him on his career path.
