Plot Synopsis

Created and executive produced by Leslye Headland, Amy Poehler and series star Natasha Lyonne, RUSSIAN DOLL is a half-hour dramedy series that follows a young woman named Nadia on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City. Nadia keeps dying and reliving her 36th birthday party, where she's trapped in a surreal time loop -- and staring down the barrel of her own mortality. After her first re-awakening, Nadia, confused and hung over, tries to piece together what happened the night before. She tracks down Wardog, the drug dealer with the Israeli joints. Then, Nadia's hunt for clues leads her to a Yeshiva school -- but she needs John's help. Out searching for Oatmeal, Nadia befriends a homeless man. On Friday, February 1, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released eight episodes of RUSSIAN DOLL.

The entire seven-episode second season of RUSSIAN DOLL dropped on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 on Netflix. Set four years after Nadia and Alan escaped mortality's time loop together, Season 2 continues to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan's most notorious locations. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out. Lyonne serves as showrunner for the new season.
