Plot Synopsis

THE ROYALS goes behind palace gates for an up-close and personal look at how the Royal Family has endured and flourished over the decades. From triumph to tragedy, this series follows the British Royal Family through births, childhoods, weddings, scandals and deaths -- all under the scrutiny of the global public eye. Spanning the period from Queen Elizabeth's coronation to the birth of Prince George of Cambridge, each episode covers such topics as Prince Philip's strict upbringing, Diana's death in Paris, Queen Elizabeth's beloved Corgis and Harry's turbulent youth. Ovation aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Saturday, April 26, 2014, showing back-to-back episodes from 5-7pm ET/2-4pm PT. Then, the cable channel broadcast the next two episodes on Sunday (April 27) and the final two episodes from 8-10pm ET/5-7pm PT as part of a 15-hour marathon on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 (7am-10pm ET/4am-7pm PT) that Ovation presented in honor of William and Kate's wedding anniversary.
