Plot Synopsis
Season 1 of ROCK THE BLOCK features four renovation experts -- Leanne Ford (RESTORED BY THE FORDS), Mina Starsiak Hawk (GOOD BONES), Jasmine Roth (HIDDEN POTENTIAL) and Alison Victoria (WINDY CITY REHAB) -- who each have four weeks and a budget of $175,000 to morph identical properties into their own version of the ultimate suburban oasis by renovating the home's master suite, kitchen, great room and outdoor living space. Hosted by Drew Scott, this series highlights the four female competitors, as they renovate new homes from Pardee Homes Los Angeles with the goal of adding the most property value to each house. The grand prize winner of the competition gets bragging rights and a street named after her, but each weekly challenge winner scores a showcase episode of her own HGTV series immediately following the one hour airing of ROCK THE BLOCK. At the end of each weekly challenge, a special guest star from HGTV judges the rooms and crowns the winner: Tarek El Moussa (FLIP OR FLOP) judges the master suites; Mike Holmes (HOLMES & HOLMES) reviews the kitchens; and Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (100 DAY DREAM HOME) evaluate the great rooms and outdoor living spaces. In addition, Nicole Curtis (REHAB ADDICT) and Tiffany Brooks (HGTV SMART HOME 2019) make special guest appearances during the series. Once the homes are completely overhauled, host Drew Scott does a full top-to-bottom inspection of the newly renovated homes to determine which designer added the most overall value to her home to become the ultimate winner of the competition.
For the second season of ROCK THE BLOCK, host Ty Pennington referees the action as the experts battle to maximize the value of identical suburban properties with $225,000 and only six weeks to complete their projects. In the end, just one pair scores bragging rights and a street named in their honor. In addition to a rotating panel of guest judges, the new season's star roster of dueling duos includes legendary home renovator and contractor Mike Holmes (HOLMES ON HOMES) paired with Chicago's fearless home reno and design expert Alison Victoria (WINDY CITY REHAB); designing dads Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent (NATE AND JEREMIAH; SAVE MY HOUSE); two HGTV DESIGN STAR winners, David Bromstad (MY LOTTERY DREAM HOME) and Tiffany Brooks ($50K THREE WAYS), who join forces; and the couple who can build and design an entire home in 100 days, Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt (100 DAY DREAM HOME.) In the 90-minute season opener on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 9-10:30pm ET/PT on HGTV, CHOPPED's Ted Allen tests the designers' mettle with a Design Twist, while house-flipping phenom Tarek El Moussa and his real estate agent fiancee, Heather Rae Young, decide which competitors created the ideal kitchen for a potential buyer. Throughout the series, more HGTV stars assess the spaces in each home, including real estate broker extraordinaire Page Turner, who judges the living room and foyer transformations. Powerhouse real estate broker Egypt Sherrod and her husband, contractor Mike Jackson, deliberate the main bedroom suites. Designer and restoration specialist Tamara Day judges the basement renovations, and two fresh faces, interior designer Carmine Sabatella and landscape designer Mike Pyle, stars of the upcoming HGTV series INSIDE OUT, evaluate the outdoor spaces. Finally, Ken and Anita Corsini join incumbent ROCK THE BLOCK champion, Jasmine Roth, for a final home walk-through before announcing the winning team.
