Plot Synopsis
This one-hour reality series follows house restoration experts Michael and Ashley Cordray, as they rehab centuries-old homes that have fallen into deep disrepair in Galveston, Texas, while preventing these architectural gems from getting wiped off the map. The husband/wife team have a passion for preserving the island's history and revitalizing the once-stately coastal houses. Whether the homes are slated for demolition or have been deteriorating for decades, the duo strive to revive the old properties by restoring the original wall-to-wall historic charm and adding modern amenities.
For its first season, the DIY aired the series with the title BIG TEXAS FIX. In the series opener, "The Pink Shack," Michael and Ashley have their work cut out for them while restoring a dilapidated 1914 fixer-upper. Together they create a light-filled breakfast nook and repurpose a vintage wooden sign to help transform what was once a condemned eyesore into a quaint pink corner house.
This series returned for its second season on Monday, August 31, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on DIY Network with a new title: RESTORING GALVESTON. During Season 2, Michael and Ashley continue to work with homes near the brink of destruction in their hometown of Galveston Island, TX, with hopes of preserving the island's history and architectural styles. In the season opener, "East End Stunner," Ashley and Michael take on a house in the historic district that's been abandoned for decades. It's their first renovation since Ashley became pregnant, and they hope to complete the massive project before the baby arrives.
Season 3 of RESTORING GALVESTON premiered on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on DIY Network. In the season opener, "The Move," Ashley buys a tiny home without consulting Michael, and he's shocked to discover it needs to move six miles across the island. As costs rise, they wonder if they'll be able to turn a profit.
Magnolia Network debuted the fourth season of RESTORING GALVESTON on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Craftsman Camelback," Camelbacks are not common in Galveston, Texas, but the challenge is to make this one a historic head-turner; the Cordrays transform the attic into a cozy family space and build an outdoor sofa that a Gulf storm can't destroy.
Season 6 of RESTORING GALVESTON debuted on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 8pm ET/PT on Magnolia Network. In the season opener, "1904 Beach Bungalow," Michael and Ashley turn a 1904 single-story bungalow into an adorable home with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and garage space; a built-in banquette, nostalgic cabinet casings, and an accent wall highlight the interior design.
