Plot Synopsis

Created and executive produced by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, RESERVATION DOGS is a half-hour comedy series that follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California. Filmed on location in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, this series is a breakthrough in Indigenous representation on television -- both in front of and behind the camera. Every writer, director and series regular on the show is Indigenous.

Bear Smallhill is destined to be a warrior, and a leader. The only problem is he's not a good fighter, and the gang doesn't really consider him the leader. But with the guidance of a questionable spirit guide, he just might get there. Elora Danan may be the true leader of the group. But she's so focused on getting to California, and so oblivious to her own power, that she often can't see the beauty and goodness in herself and all around her. Street-smart tough girl Willie Jack is the beating heart of the group. She's always looking out for her crew. Meanwhile, Cheese is the gentle, quiet ride-or-die who is so willing to go along with the group that he never stops to consider what his own dreams might be. One year ago, Daniel, the fifth member of the Reservation Dogs, died. Struggling to make sense of the loss, the remaining four blame their boring, small town and its ability to crush the spirit. They decide to honor Daniel by adopting his dream of getting to California as their own. To succeed, they will have to save enough money, outmaneuver the methheads at the junkyard on the edge of town, constantly dodge conspiracy-obsessed Lighthorseman "Big" and survive a turf war against a much tougher rival gang, led by the enigmatic Jackie. The first two episodes of RESERVATION DOGS dropped on Monday, August 9, 2021 on FX on Hulu. A new episode debuted each Monday through September 20.

The sophomore season of RESERVATION DOGS debuted on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, as FX on Hulu dropped the first two episodes of Season 2. A new episode premiered each Wednesday through September 28. The season opening with the town recovering from the tornado aftermath, while Willie Jack tries to reverse a curse. Then, Elora and Jackie's road trip takes a turn for the worse. RESERVATION DOGS made its linear television debut with back-to-back episodes on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 10-11:10pm ET/PT on FX.

Season 3 of RESERVATION DOGS debuts with two new episodes on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 on FX on Hulu. A new installment debuts weekly on Wednesdays throgh September 27. This season, the Rez Dogs find themselves stranded in Cali and have to figure out their way back home. After making it back to Okern, Elora considers the idea of college, Bear comes across a conspiracy theorist named Maximus, Willie Jack grows more invested in healing her community and Cheese, well, he still lives with his grandmother who's not his grandmother. Meanwhile, the aunties, uncles and elders explore their pasts and try to heal old wounds. We learn more about tribal cop Big; cannabis-loving Brownie; physics-obsessed Bucky; the enigmatic Deer Lady; Bear's mom Rita and her cousin Teenie; Willie Jack's dad Leon; Daniel's mom Hokti; medicine man Old Man Fixico; junkyard prophet Kenny Boy; gum-smacking Bev ; and ride-less rap duo Mose and Mekko. Season 3 is full of road trips, bathroom wisdom, unexpected fathers, boarding schools, Bigfoot, rumors, revenge and healing.
