Plot Synopsis

In each one-hour episode of THE RENOVATOR, THE PROFIT's Marcus Lemonis helps homeowners fix their most valuable personal asset -- their home -- by rescuing frustrated families who have no idea where to begin to renovate a house that no longer meets their needs. During the process, Marcus will dig deep to determine the root of the clients' issues. And through a series of honest conversations and activities framed by the design process, he provides solutions for each family's physical surroundings and personal trials that will lead to spectacular reveals. In the end, Marcus gets these houses in order -- leaving families better connected and living in a beautifully renovated and functional home.

"Renovation is just a portion of why I spend time with these families. The other reason is to help renovate the way they think so they can communicate better," said Marcus. "Throughout the season, I met some amazing families who needed someone on their side to provide solutions that transform their homes into ideal spaces and help strengthen their relationships. I use my own life experiences and my passion for design to create a stronger foundation for their home and their family."

On Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11am ET/PT, HGTV premiered a sneak-peek episode of THE RENOVATOR. In this special episode, "Against All Odds," a separated couple who are eager to rebuild their life together bring on Marcus Lemonis to not only restore their home's livability but their relationship as well.

On Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT on HGTV, THE RENOVATOR made its official series debut. The series opener, "House of Opposites," follows Marcus to Orange Park, Florida, where he helps a family of six find solutions for their home's disorganized spaces, as well as its outdated style and cramped floor plan. During the initial tour, Marcus uncovers the owners' very different household priorities and set out to resolve their tension through thoughtful design. The three-bedroom house will be rearranged to better accommodate the kids, and the process will tear down both physical and emotional walls. A dramatic backyard makeover completes the improvements, as the small home gets turned into a neighborhood showpiece. Additional episodes include:

"A Fresh Start" (Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT): Marcus Lemonis helps a father and his daughter with a home that's stuck in time after the loss of his wife. Marcus looks to free up space that will allow them to create dynamic rooms for new family memories, including a place for new family photos.

After a 5.5-month break, THE RENOVATOR returned with new episodes on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT on HGTV.

"Healing a Home" (Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10pm): Marcus Lemonis helps a family whose home near the beach is causing them to experience health issues. He's challenged to help the couple with underlying communication barriers in their marriage and to bring harmony to all aspects of the family's home.

"You Can Go Home Again" (Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 10pm): Marcus Lemonis takes on a couple who were married and had kids, but the condition of their home led to divorce. Now, their relationship may be rekindled if Marcus can help them renovate everything, including the backyard, and build equity in the process.

"New Addition" (Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10pm): Marcus Lemonis helps a couple expecting their second child create more room in their tiny, disorganized house. Marcus improves the couple's communication and find ways to add dazzling design improvements that make their home feel bigger and brand new.

"House in Crisis": Twenty years after buying their house, a couple now has three kids and has reached a breaking point with both their cramped space and their marriage. Marcus uses design to help them work together to try and build their home and lives back together again.

"Together Home": Marcus Lemonis assists a couple living in his former bachelor pad that's in need of serious upgrades. Their inability to make decisions has led to countless dead ends, so Marcus looks to transform both the interior and exterior to create a forever home.

"Three Generation Renovation": Marcus Lemonis helps a single mother transform a palatial dream home she began building with her late husband. Marcus looks to fix the family dynamic and motivate her three grown girls and pre-teen son to create a functional and beautiful home.

"Against All Odds": A separated couple is eager to rebuild their life together, but the condition of his house is pushing them even further apart. Now, Marcus Lemonis takes on the renovation to not only restore their home's livability but their relationship as well.
