Plot Synopsis

Host Brian Unger takes viewers on a journey to prove that behind every great dish, there's a great story. Brian cross-crosses America to meet with local chefs, historians, restaurateurs, farmers, and fisherman looking for a plate full of history, information and fun. The story of the United States can be told, at least in part, by its food and what's on Americans' plate. On Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 2-3pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered back-to-back episodes, but the cable channel had no other episodes on its schedule at that time. In the premiere episode (2pm), "Some Like It Hot," Brian visits New Orleans, Baltimore, and Phoenix to uncover the history behind their most fiery dishes. Then, in the second episode (2:30pm), "Chicken and Waffles," Brian travels to New York, Virginia, and Harlem to uncover the culinary history behind a comfort food classic.
