Plot Synopsis

Five-year-old Clara Garnier is kidnapped in 1993, and her abductors are demanding a very high ransom in exchange for her release. But the day of the exchange ends in a bloodbath; Clara's mother is killed and the child vanishes. Is she dead or alive? The ongoing mystery causes much distress for her family and the local community. Twenty five years later, Clara's older sister Aurore, a police officer investigating a murder, uncovers clues to prove her sister is still alive. She is living under another identity in Italy without any knowledge of her own origins. Against her skeptical father and brothers' wishes, she persuades Clara to come back to her family to help her discover the truth behind the kidnapping. But the return of Clara unravels family secrets and triggers a series of violent events. Aurore, more determined than ever to uncover the truth behind her abduction, ends up jeopardising the relationship with her partner. Her grandparents then put the family home up for sale, causing conflict between Clara and Aurore's brothers Gabriel, a nightclub manager, and Frederic who is in charge of the estate. And then tragedy suddenly strikes their half-sister Thelma, a rebellious and neglected teenager. Clara tries to put the pieces of her life together and tries to understand the extent of the lies she has had to live with since childhood.
